Three representative techniques are chosen from each of five Nage-wazas.


Formal Techniques of Throwing.

A prearranged exercise showing the various throwing principles. All throws are executed to the left and right.

This Kata originated in 1887 and was created by Jigoro Kano. 

1st Series (Te-Waza)

i) Uki-Otoshi.  ii) Kata-Seoi.  iii) Kata-Guruma.

1)  Floating Drop  ii) Shoulder Drop  iii) Shoulder Wheel. 

2nd Series (Koshi-Waza).

i) Uki-Goshi.  ii) Harai-Goshi.  iii) Tsuri-Komi-Goshi

i) Floating Hip  ii) Sweeping Loin  iii) Resisting Hip.

 

3rd Series (Ashi-Waza).

i)  Okuri-Ashi-Barai.  ii) Sasae-Tsuri-Komi-Ashi.  iii) Uchi-Mata.

i)  Sweeping Ankle Throw  ii) Propping Drawing Ankle Throw  iii) Inner Thigh. 

 

4th Series (Ma-Sutemi-Waza)

i)  Tomoe-Nage.  ii)  Ura-Nage.  iii) Sumi-Gaeshi.

i) Stomach Throw  ii) Rear Throw  iii) Corner Throw

 

5th Series (Yoko-Sutemi-Waza).   

i) Yoko-Gake.  ii) Yoko-Guruma.  iii) Uki-Waza.

i)  Side Dash  ii) Side Wheel  iii) Floating Throw.
