  • Judo is a close contact sport being developed from a safe form of wrestling in Japan from the martial art of Jujitsu.

Technical sessions:
Including teaching of current competition techniques, feedback and analysis of players techniques and fighting styles.
 
Fitness training:
Including current fitness training drills, monitoring of fitness and action plans and individual development strategies.
 
Team building:
Socials and the promotion of team spirit in training and completion.
 
Video analysis:
Players past competitions, analysis of past major competitions; Worlds, Olympics etc.

 Harwich & Dovercourt Judo Club Coach.
The competition team will be picked by the coaches, the players chosen will be of a good standard at present and will show potential for further development and a willingness to learn. Players of 9 years and over will be looked at mainly, though exceptions may be made at the coaches discretion.
Grading theory:
  • Junior and Senior grading syllabus will be covered in sessions with players wishing to grade.
  • Correct per iodisation leading up to major events throughout the year to ensure that the players within the team perform at their optimum at the right time.
  • Pre-competition, Weight monitoring and nutritional advice.
  • Fitness assessments
  • Booking in services for events
  • Travel arrangements for competitors and supporters ie team players not fighting (where numbers allow)
  • Mat-side coaching
  • Supervision at the event
  • Videoing
  • Individual technical advice off mat coaching
  • Post competition feedback
  • Technical advice and instruction on techniques
  • Regular appraisals of performance will be carried out and instructions and advice given to player
