Double Medal Success
Ipswich Senior Open March 2004

Two players based at Bradfield Village Hall fought in their  first competition on Sunday 14th March. What was different about these players was that they had only been doing judo for 6 months. The two sisters Philippa age 19 and Becky age 17 (who is currently doing judo as one of her sports in her PE A level), fought in the Ipswich Senior Open which attracts senior players from far and wide, they took part in the novice to orange belt section.

Overcoming first competition nerves they both put in valiant performances. Becky after 3 fights took a gold winning all her fights with a clean Ippon a maximum score that ends the fight. Philippa fought well showing skill and determination and producing a well earned victory took silver in the group.

The two players were amazed at there performances and both are looking forward to entering there first grading next month.

There coachs say “ The judo that they produced was excellent we are very pleased with both their performances and are looking forward to the grading in late April”.
