Every Tendring Judo club will have their own set of rules. Here are just a few of the most common ones:

  • Punching, kicking, hair pulling or scratching will not be tolerated.

  • No swearing and treat all with respect.

  • No jewellery or metal items to be worn while training such as zips on pockets or metal in hair bands.

  • Long hair must be tied back securely.

  • Keep both finger and toenails clean and short.

  • No deliberate contact with your opponent’s face.

  • No drinks or food in the dojo (or on the practicing area).

  • No shoes / trainers to be worn in the dojo.

  • Judo should only be practiced in the dojo. If you want to show your friends, bring them to the club!

  • Bow to your partner/s before and after Training with them.

  • Do not leave a lesson without first asking your coach.

  • Noise levels should be kept to a minimum when practicing and during coaching.

  • Keep your Judo Gi clean and in good conditions.

The club reserves the right to ask any individual to leave the judo mat if the individual concerned does not observe these rules.
