1.
From 1998 all Coaching Awards must have been revalidated annually with
the

Section 1 — Judo Related Events
a. Member of the Coaching Commission
b. Member of the Refereeing Commission
c. Competition Controller
d. Area Technical Director
e. Assistant Area Technical Director
f. County Coach
Section 2 — Coach Education Related Events
a. First Aid Tutor
b. Fitness Training Tutor
c. Qualified Die titian
d. Sports Injury Tutor
e. Government body recognised Coach Education Tutor
3. Coaches are NOT to sign cards themselves and must be in attendance of the revalidation event for its duration for it to be recognised. Coaches are to present their own cards ONLY for signature.

VALIDATION EVENTS

The following are
examples of revalidation events:
Section
1 — Judo
Related Events.
a) Attendance at an Area organised coaching seminar of at least one full day’s duration (mm 4hrs).
b) Attendance at the BJA National Coaching weekend.
c) Attendance at judo workshop or course on any topic of judo coaching.
d) Attendance at a first aid course particularly on judo related injuries.
e) Attendance at any BJA licensed tournament as a Coach.
f) Attendance at the BJA Annual General Meeting.
g) Attendance at a Referees course or seminar.
h) Refereeing at any BJA Championship as a qualified Referee.
i) Publishing an article on any aspect of coaching judo.
j) Receive a revalidation visit at your Club from an appa) Revalidation of First Aid Qualification.
b) Any Fitness and Training Course.
c) Any general coaching course e.g.
i) The Coach in Action
ii) Coaching Children and Young People
iii) Coaching Methods and Communication
iv) Coaching and the Law
v) Analysing your Coaching etc
d) Any course in diet and weight management.
e) Any course on Sports Injuries.
f) Any course concerning good practice
g) Attendance at a course relating with how to deal with child abuse or the care of children.
h) Any course related to coaching disabled people.
i) Any course related to drugs in sport.

6.
Areas are required to run an annual coaching seminar of at least four
hours duration. It will be compulsory for Coaches to attend one of these events
per year (not necessarily within their own Area) or the National Coaching
Weekend Course. ![]()
7.
No more than two of the same types of events should be recorded in the
Coach’s Coaching Award card during the relevant twelve month period i.e. You
may attend as many tournaments as you like during the year but only 2
tournaments per year can be used for revalidation purposes.

8. In order to promote continuous professional development all coaches are encouraged to attend at least one event from Section 2.
